Casall
Olympic horse and Global Champions Tour winner with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, and one of the most successful Holsteiner sires of our time. Here you will find his profile and every horse from our breeding that carries Casall blood.
Pedigree and performance
Casall was born on 13 April 1999 and bred by Wilfried Thomann in Drelsdorf. He is by Caretino out of Kira XVII by Lavall I and comes from Holsteiner damline 890. In his 70-day stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 2002 he finished second of 32 stallions, with an overall index of 133.68 and a jumping index of 138.11.
A career at the top
Under the Swedish rider Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Casall competed at the London 2012 Olympics, won team bronze and finished fourth individually at the 2013 European Championships in Herning, and was fourth at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen. He won ten legs of the Global Champions Tour and took the overall title in 2016.
Casall as a sire
More than 240 of his sons have been licensed worldwide, over 100 of his offspring have results at 1.60 m, and 90 of his daughters have been awarded state premium status in Holstein. His offspring jump at the top level under riders such as Kent Farrington, Ludger Beerbaum, Simon Delestre and Michael Duffy, whose Cinca won team silver at the European Championships in Milan.
What Casall passes on
Casall is known for passing on hardiness and quality, and his foals often show a great deal of charm and class. He is best suited to tall mares with plenty of frame.
